Each glass disc suspension insulator is assembled from three primary components:

  • Tempered glass component – Provides the core electrical insulation and offers the self-breaking characteristic for easy fault detection

  • Iron cap – Provides mechanical connection and protection for the glass component

  • Steel foot – Serves as the attachment point for the conductor or adjacent insulator

During assembly, a soft gasket is placed at the top of the steel foot, and an asphalt layer is applied where the iron cap inner cavity contacts the cement adhesive.
