Pollution-Resistant Disc Suspension Glass Insulator

Pollution-resistant glass insulators are insulators specifically designed for polluted environments. This product utilizes a special umbrella-like structural design (such as open skirts) to improve creepage distance, slow down dirt accumulation, and enhance self-cleaning performance. It is primarily used in industrial dust environments, chemical industries, saline-alkali areas, and coastal areas with multiple pollution sources.

Pollution-resistant glass insulators are specially designed insulating devices based on standard glass insulators, primarily adapted for power transmission scenarios with severe pollution such as industrial pollution areas, coastal salt spray zones, and high-altitude foggy regions. They address the problem of easy contamination and flashover of standard insulators.

1) Core Structure and Design Highlights

The key difference between pollution-resistant and standard insulators lies in the skirt structure:

  • Increased skirt diameter and creepage distance: Compared to standard insulators, they have larger outer diameters and more skirt pieces, with a creepage ratio distance of 25mm/kV or more, effectively extending the leakage current path and reducing the probability of pollution flashover.
  • Optimized skirt design: They often adopt bell-shaped, double-layer, or triple-skirt structures, where the upper large skirt shields the lower skirt, reducing surface contamination; the skirt edges are arc-shaped, enhancing self-cleaning performance, and contaminants are easily washed away by rain.
  • Unchanged basic composition: They are still composed of glass components, steel caps, and steel feet bonded with cement adhesive, retaining the inherent advantages of glass insulators such as zero-value self-breakage, arc resistance, and high mechanical strength.

2) Applicable Scenarios

  • Transmission lines in industrial pollution-intensive areas such as chemical, metallurgical, and coal mining industries
  • Offshore transmission projects in coastal areas with high salt spray and humidity
  • 110kV-1000kV transmission and distribution lines in high-altitude foggy and repeated icing regions
  • Lines in urban dense areas and suburban areas with high dust content

3) Core Advantages

  • Superb pollution flashover resistance: Sufficient creepage distance and anti-pollution skirt design ensure stable insulation performance under polluted and humid conditions, significantly reducing line tripping rates.
  • Low operation and maintenance costs: Inheriting the zero-value self-breakage feature, no pole climbing inspection is required; deteriorated insulators can be directly detected and replaced; superior self-cleaning performance reduces the frequency of manual cleaning.
  • Strong environmental adaptability: Resistant to acid and alkali corrosion and ultraviolet aging, their service life in harsh environments is 5 to 10 years longer than that of standard insulators in the same scenarios.
